FIRST BORN IS 5

Dear Adriana,

You are 5 today. Come next year, you will be in the final year of preschool. Behind the petite size and big round eyes, is an independent and contented girl. You are an excellent sister and your 3 brothers are blessed to have you as their elder sister. The care and love that you have showed them are beyond my expectation. I love the time we hang out together and gigging away. Our daily secret conversations about shopping and life which at times turned the father off. Though you are a girl, I will be just more than content that you are aware of the basic house chores. I don’t expect you to help me out all the time and instead all I want is for you to enjoy your childhood. I strive to fulfill your wishes because you deserve them all. You may not ask for extravagant stuff all the time, but simple and girly stuff just makes you the happiest girl in the world. You are an obedient and sensible girl and as such I give you the freedom of choice. At times, I do get irritated by your fussiness and being a perfectionist and facing a difficult time trying to explain to you. But of course you choose to be stubborn and it’s hard to make you to absorb that certain things are acceptable. While I admit I set targets on your developments on each year, I still leave it to your own pace for the progress. Nevertheless, I’m glad that you understand during our pre talks, on being diaper-free, bottle-less, prayers and fasting. I see myself in you and I can foresee we are going to have many great bonding and sharing the same interest.

To my first born and only daughter, thank you for being part of my life and thank you for being a great companion. No matter how many younger siblings you have, my love and care for you will never change. Mama wishes you great happiness and pink of health and remember I will always be there for you! Happy birthday, my sweet darling, wish you to be a successful and knowledgeable Muslim!

Happy 5th Birthday, Adriana Omar!

Her requested bithday present, a pink bicycle! She's truly over the moon!
