The day that we been waiting for after months of anxiety with the securing of a spot. The day that marks a new beginning for Adriana’s 6 years of education. The girl was very excited and can’t wait to reach her school. While for us, it was mixed with an emotional feeling as this is our first born and only daughter.
Mother and daughter reached TPS at 2pm sharp followed by the father who came after the Friday prayers. We registered and sat at the school hall and she went in to class with her new classmates. Speeches made by the Principal, Vice Principal, Exco Member of Parents Support Group and Subject Head Pupil Development. We are impressed by their programmes and nodded on their objectives. We moved to another venue to fill up some forms and after that we picked up our child at the school hall. There she was up on stage doing some dance moves and I could see she is enjoying herself. The system of purchasing books is different now. I remembered during my time, we had to tick which books to buy and then passed it to the seller, where he/she will take the books one by one and placed them in red plastic bags. But now all are ready packed in box and according to the mother tongue language. We bought her uniforms and pe attire, socks and ordered the name tags. The whole thing ended at 6pm and what’s left is to purchase her shoes and bag. Adriana is officially a Tampinesian!
